Summer 2013

So I didn't do much writing this summer, but I did draw a bunch, especially in San Antonio.

These first two are portraits of people that I'm making up.  Not really for a story or anything, but just because I like to make up worlds and cultures and create histories and such.

This one is a portrait of Zakar and his adoptive mother Zagara.  They are shown in front of their mud brick, thatched roof house in the center of Zoronsport, a coastal trade city of their agricultural society.  He was chosen as the representative of what is considered attractive in their society, and she accompanies him as representative of the majority of the populous' appearance.

This is Naebhum of Naeghara.  He was chosen as representative of what the Naegharan society finds attractive.  The tattoos (symbols borrowed from Hindi) on his arms are reprinted at right and mark his status as a slave.  The one on top is the first letter of his name, and the second represents his particular job as a slave (which happens to be a more prestigious job than many of his fellow slaves, due to the fact that he is so attractive).

This is a little thing I made up at the beginning of the school year to commemorate my beginning my Probability course this year. :)

Directory

This directory lists all my stories so that they can always be found easily. :)

It's been a long time, but now I'm back at school it'll probably be even longer....

Don't forget to comment!  I like to know if people are reading.

Here's another publication of art...

This one is comprised of all my favourite quotes about courage.
"Courage" has been one of the themes that I focus on to keep me going when times get rough.

This is a goofy little thing I made the other day called "Waking Up"

I always liked the Beatles song Blackbird, but when I heard Julie Fowlis sing the song in Scottish Gaelic, I was captivated by it.  I've learned to sing it, because the Gaelic words feel good on my tongue like audible candy.  The lyrics in this picture are actually the Irish Gaelic translation of Blackbird, because I could not find the Scottish Gaelic lyrics that Julie Fowlis sings anywhere within the reach of Google.

What Took So Long?

Someday at last I’ll find a man
Who’ll take me in his arms
And kiss as only one love can.
I’ll know at last I’ve found him.
From his kiss I’ll pull away,
Slap his face, and then I’ll say,

“What took so long?
Where were you through the lonely years
Through broken-hearted tears?
Why did I have to search so far
To only now be in your arms?
What took you so darn long?”

A fateful day will come in time.
He’ll put his hand in mine,
And sinking to one knee
Pull out a diamond ring.
He’ll ask if I will be his wife.
I’ll lift him up and then reply,

“What took so long?
Where were you through the lonely years
Through broken-hearted tears?
I hoped and prayed for any sign
For one who’d be forever mine.
What the blazes took so long?”

As our time draws to an end,
Now he at last my lifelong friend.
Every ounce of tears and pain
Was worth the time I spent with him;
And for a love as real as his,
I would have waited two thousand years.
